Florida International University
Description
Founded on 1972, the Florida International University
is considered by U.S. News & World Report one of the
top 100 best public universities of the country. The English
Language Institute (ELI) is part of the University’s
Arts and Sciences College.
Lodging
The university has dorms in the campus, and it’s
also possible to rent apartments outside the campus.
Academics
The intensive English Program covers the Grammar, Communication,
Writing, Reading and Vocabulary areas. The classes are
small, with a personalized attention, classes of 20 to
25 hours per week, plus the homework. There are additional
conversational activities. The other programs include
English for business and the super intensive program is
focused on spoken English. The student has also optional
courses such as exam preparation for TOEFL, accent reduction
and writing and communication for business.
Activities
The university offers cultural and recreational activities
to the students, with events and social activities that
provide the students with opportunities to practice the
English outside the classroom.
