Description
Atlanta is a modern and cosmopolitan city. It has a rich
history, and it is the home of the CNN, Coca-Cola and
other multinational companies. Created in 1961, ELS will
show you a different lifestyle and it will help you to
improve your knowledge of the language and culture of
the United States. ELS is located in the Atlanta suburbs,
in the campus of the Southern Polytechnic State University.
Lodging
The options include host family houses, student’s
residences and apartments. In many cases, the lodging
arrangements can be done before arriving to the United
States.
Academic
ELS offers two English courses: Intensive and Semi-Intensive.
The Intensive Program has 30 weekly lessons and up to
twelve levels - that go from beginner to advanced and
"masters” levels. Before the beginning of the
classes, the student takes a test to determine his level
an how much he /she can speak, understand and write in
English. There are also special programs, including TOEFL
preparation and personalized instruction.
The Semi-Intensive English course was designed for those
who want to make good use of the classes and also have
free time to explore the environs and practice English
outside the classroom. It has 20 weekly lessons, with
emphasis on the communication skills and the practice
of the everyday English, with flexible schedules for the
beginning of each session and twelve learning levels,
from beginners to "masters".
Activities
Among the diverse activities offered are: tours to the
CNN studios, guided tours by the Coca-Cola factory, the
Martin Luther King center, to the Six Flags amusement
park, and to several historical places and museums.
