Description
Columbia is located halfway between Kansas City and St.
Louis, and is considered one of the best US cities. The
Money magazine has mentioned several times Columbia as
one of the 20 better places to live in the United States
due to the excellent education system, economy, medical
attention, lodging opportunities and general life quality.
The University of Missouri at Columbia (UMC) is recognized
as one of the most complete schools of the United States.
The University offers a selection of 250 credited academic
programs in the university and postgraduate levels.
Lodging
The university offers lodging in residential buildings
in the university campus, or in private apartments outside
the campus.
Academics
The IEP, established in 1978, offers courses of English
language to international students wishing to improve
their English skills for academic, personal or professional
reasons. There is a minimum of 25 hours per week, in small
classes and with personal attention. The school makes
emphasis in academic English and the university preparation.
There’s also an institutional TOEFL examination
at the end of each semester.
Activities
The university offers regularly programmed social and
cultural activities, including trips outside the city.
Their excellent university facilities include computer
labs, libraries, a clinic for the students, several museums
and sport facilities, such as the Student Rest center,
weight lifting equipment, swimming pools, tennis courts
and soccer fields.
