Description
The Reno- Lake Tahoe area has a dry and ideal mountainous
weather, sunny days and fresh nights. It has the safe
atmosphere of a small city, but with the attractiveness
of an important urban area. The University of Nevada in
Reno was founded on 1874, and is one of the best United
States superior education institutions according to the
U.S. News & World Report.
Lodging
The university has double rooms dorms near the classrooms,
menu plans in the dining rooms of the establishment, and
cafeteria. It also has a Friendly Families program, a
way to share the American culture.
Academic
The English program has 20 hours per week of instruction
that include the study, cultural orientation and practice
of the language. The course levels go from beginner to
advanced. The beginner courses make emphasis in the basic
vocabulary and the grammar and teach daily situations
communication. The intermediate and advanced courses focus
in the capacity to write, listen, speak and read the language
with academic aims. These levels have courses and seminaries,
which can include computer science, business and American
culture. These courses contribute to the development of
the language and its use in academic surroundings. The
groups are small, just 12 or 15 students.
Activities
The university offers bus tours by Reno, excursions to
local historical places and student attractions, receptions,
dances, parties and banquets throughout the year. There
are also long walks, ski and visits to interest places.
Among the sport activities, it is possible to practice
ski, sailing, long walks, golf and others.
