Description
The students will enjoy the opportunity to study in the
sunny US Southwest. Albuquerque is a beautiful city, with
an interesting mixture of cultures, including American,
Mexican, Spanish, Indian and Anglo-Saxon influences. New
Mexico has an ample variety of landscapes and a wonderfully
warm weather throughout the year.
Lodging
The students are responsible to find their own lodging,
either inside or outside the campus. The University has
place in its dorms for those studying in the English program,
although a reservation must be made one to two months
in advance.
Academics
The Center for English Language and American Culture (CELAC)
in the University of New Mexico (UNM) is designed for
students planning to attend a university in the United
States, and for those wishing to acquire skills at college
level, to listen, read, and speak English. The classes
are small, just 8 to 12 students, and there are three
levels: intermediate, intermediate advance, and advanced.
Activities
The university offers many outdoors activities, like walking
by the mountains, skiing, fishing, rafting and nature
studies. For those urban people, there are restaurants,
theaters, museums, and sport activities. It is also possible
to make trips to Mexico, in the South border of the state.
