Any
traveler who arrives at the United States is usually
worried about his security. But although thousands
of films show gangster’s scenes in each American
street and the news report tourists having problems
in the Florida highways, the USA is a quite safe
place. All the cities have “safe” and
“unsafe” areas. It’s advisable
to speak with the people who live there to have
an idea of where are the "bad" zones and
to avoid them, specially at night.
Everyone who drives a car should take some precautions.
If you a planning a trip along the USA it is a good
idea to rent a cellular phone so if you have any
emergency you can call 911 and contact the local
police. The traveler must always remember to lock
the doors of the car and never to stop for strangers
doing hitchhiking.
A safe trip has to be planned. It is not a good
idea to get off a train or a bus in the middle of
the night and begin to look for lodging. The European
style Bed and Breakfast does not exist in the United
States. Here, the B&B are exclusive and -quite
often- expensive places. Nevertheless, there’s
a great variety of motels, and many hotel chains
have special prices for their double rooms.
