Description
The University of Southern California is one of the most
prestigious private universities dedicated to research
of the US . Located near the Los Angeles downtown, the
access to some cultural and recreational places is relatively
easy. Hollywood, Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Disneyland
and the mountains are only one hour away traveling in
car from the USC.
Lodging
The university offers to the students completely furnished
apartments in residences within the campus. It is also
possible to rent private apartments near the USC campus.
Academics
The school method is designed simultaneously to develop
a proper knowledge of the language emphasizing the general
fluidity acquired in daily life situations. It is distributed
on specific skills, like conversation, academic writing,
vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and preparation for
the TOEFL and the GRE. At the same time, it tries to stimulate
the academic and practical fluidity in the university
type courses that focus in the reading, writing, oral
understanding and conversation. The course consists on
23 hours per week, with up to 4 hours per week of optional
workshops. It has 7 levels, from beginner to advanced.
The average group have 14 students, and there are weekly
TOEFL practice examinations.
Activities
The USC has a Student Services Coordinator who plans at
least one activity per week. It’s possible to visit
Disneyland, Universal Studios, Hollywood, Beverly Hills,
TV studios, sport events, beaches, museums, and trips
to L.A.
