Description
Founded on 1873, TCU is a private university located in
Fort Worth. It offers university and post university studies
in 112 areas, including business administration, property
administration, engineering, communications, education,
fine arts, humanities, nursing and physical and social
sciences. Although TCU was founded by a Christian denomination,
it is an independent institution and it receives students
of diverse cultures and beliefs. The religious instruction
is not a component of the IEP.
Lodging
The students can choose between lodging with a host family,
in dorms equipped with computer and telephone, or to rent
a single or shared apartment in the neighborhoods.
Academics
The Intensive English Program (IEP) of the TCU offers
to the students classes of 10 to 15 students, which facilitates
a more customized instruction, with 20 to 23 hours per
week of academic education of English, from Intermediate
to University Preparation. The course includes: writing,
reading, vocabulary, comprehension, conversation and grammar.
Activities
The University lodges more than 150 student’s organizations,
including several groups of international students. It
also offers several recreational facilities like swimming
pools, gymnasium, tennis and racquetball courts. In the
city there are plenty of cultural opportunities such as
art museums of world-wide category, the oldest opera company
of Texas, a symphony orchestra, live ballet and theater.
