Created in 1961, ELS will show you a different lifestyle and it will help you to improve your knowledge of the language and culture of the United States. With more than 300 sunny days a year and an average temperature of 20 °C, San Antonio offers an ideal weather. The University of the Incarnate Word offers more than 40 titles of sub degree and 24 titles of degree, such as Business, Computer Sciences, Information Services, Fashion Design and Administration, Fashion Commercialization and Masters in Business Administration (MBA).

Lodging
The options include: host family houses, student’s residences and apartments. In many cases, the lodging arrangements can be done before arriving to the United States.

Academics
ELS offers two English courses: Intensive and Semi-Intensive. The Intensive Program has 30 weekly lessons and up to twelve levels - that go from beginner to advanced and "masters” levels. Before the beginning of the classes, the student takes a test to determine his level an how much he /she can speak, understand and write in English. There are also special programs, including TOEFL preparation and personalized instruction.
The Semi-Intensive English course was designed for those who want to make good use of the classes and also have free time to explore the environs and practice English outside the classroom. It has 20 weekly lessons, with emphasis on the communication skills and the practice of the everyday English, with flexible schedules for the beginning of each session and twelve learning levels, from beginners to "masters".

Activities
The university offers several activities such as visits to El Alamo, museums or the Zoo, to explore the 3.2 kilometers of the River Walk stroll, where cafes with tables in the patio mingle with nightclubs and specialized boutiques, or to enjoy the several local thematic parks, such as Fiesta Texas, Six Flags, Sea World and Splashtown Water Park. The students can also make weekend trips to Houston, Dallas, Austin and even Mexico.
