Description
The Language and Culture Center is located in the University
of Houston campus, 8 kilometers to the south of the Houston
center. The university campus cover a recreational area
of 219 hectares with parks, fountains, squares, sculptures
and game fields, in addition to modern classrooms and
labs.
Lodging
The students of the Language and Culture Center can live
in the dorms within the university campus and select between
the different meals plans in the university cafeterias.
They can also live in apartments outside the university
campus and select its lodging between a great available
variety.
Academic
In the University of Houston the English Course has six
levels, from beginner to advanced superior. In both superior
levels the students are provided with the intercultural
communication classes, a practical method to understand
the cultural adaptation and simultaneously to develop
ways to deal with cultural misunderstandings. The other
classes develop the reading, vocabulary, writing, grammar,
conversation and comprehension areas. These classes are
given by professors with at least one Master in Education
of English as Second Language (TESL), or in a related
field. The size of the groups varies between 8 and 16
students.
Activities
The Language and Culture Center offers additional activities
to the training program, such as study trips, sport events,
university clubs, etc.
